From a few decades ago, the Port Dover beach, back when the sand was hot, the water was perfect, and the only thing anyone worried about was whether they had enough fries from the old beach stands. Seeing it again makes you smile and remember just how many summers have rolled through Norfolk County.

So here’s the big question as we roll into the long weekend… what’s the plan?
Heading out?
Staying out?
Or vegging in with a full‑blown moviethon weekend… lol.

Long Point Bay is one of Ontario’s true treasures. Eleven years ago, July 12, 2015 landed on a Sunday, and here we are again, with July 12 falling on a Sunday this year too. Some traditions don’t just repeat, they return right on schedule.

And that means one thing in our corner of Lake Erie: Pottahawk Bash.

It’s always the second Sunday of July, year after year, no exceptions, no guessing. Boats of every shape and size heading out, friends meeting friends on the water, and that unmistakable summertime buzz that only Pottahawk brings. The kind of tradition that feels stitched right into Norfolk County’s DNA.

Weather wise tomorrow, it's going to be a perfect setup, nothing but sun, sun, sun, 27 Celsius feeling like 31. Sounds like a little nod to history, a little nod to tradition, and a whole lot of anticipation for tomorrow’s gathering on the bay.

Here’s to another Pottahawk Sunday, just like 2015… only with a few more stories behind them and a few more waiting to be made.

This morning, my granddaughter Kleio created what might be the most perfect pancake ever served at Clonmel. Golden. Fluffy. Cooked to perfection. And if you look closely, it even has a heart right in the middle.
