From a few decades ago, the Port Dover beach, back when the sand was hot, the water was perfect, and the only thing anyone worried about was whether they had enough fries from the old beach stands. Seeing it again makes you smile and remember just how many summers have rolled through Norfolk County.

So here’s the big question as we roll into the long weekend… what’s the plan?
Heading out?
Staying out?
Or vegging in with a full‑blown moviethon weekend… lol.
What's ya up to and are you looking forward to it?

Let’s hear it, how are you kicking off your Civic Holiday weekend?

Enjoy adventuring Long Point from Clonmel Castle! Still availability for 2026. Www.clonmelcastle.ca. Use Promocode 10th and celebrate our anniversary!!

Long Point Bay is one of Ontario’s true treasures. The outer bay stretches from the tip of Long Point all the way across to Port Dover and includes Normandale, Port Ryerse, Turkey Point, Port Rowan and many more communities. It's a wide, open sweep of Lake Erie water. The inner bay sits tucked behind the Long Point sand spit, sheltered and calm, bordered by Big Creek Marsh, the Crown Marsh, and the Long Point Causeway.

And in summer? This place becomes a playground.

Here are just some of the things you can do on Long Point Bay when the warm weather hits:
Paddle boarding (as these three ladies are proving in style)
Kayaking and canoeing through the marsh channels
Swimming in the warm, shallow waters
Boating, sailing, and pontoon cruising
Jet‑skiing and tubing
Fishing for perch, bass, pike, and walleye
Birdwatching — especially during migration
Photography of sunsets, wildlife, and the iconic sand spit
Beach days at Port Dover, Long Point, Turkey Point, or Pottahawk
Snorkeling in the clear shallows
Windsurfing and kiteboarding when the breeze picks up
Relaxing on the water with friends, family, or a cold drink

Long Point Bay is where Norfolk County comes alive every summer, peaceful when you want it, adventurous when you need it, and always beautiful.

Have a beautiful Norfolk County kind of day !!!

Eleven years ago, July 12, 2015 landed on a Sunday, and here we are again, with July 12 falling on a Sunday this year too. Some traditions don’t just repeat, they return right on schedule.

And that means one thing in our corner of Lake Erie: Pottahawk Bash.

It’s always the second Sunday of July, year after year, no exceptions, no guessing. Boats of every shape and size heading out, friends meeting friends on the water, and that unmistakable summertime buzz that only Pottahawk brings. The kind of tradition that feels stitched right into Norfolk County’s DNA.

Weather wise tomorrow, it's going to be a perfect setup, nothing but sun, sun, sun, 27 Celsius feeling like 31. Sounds like a little nod to history, a little nod to tradition, and a whole lot of anticipation for tomorrow’s gathering on the bay.

Here’s to another Pottahawk Sunday, just like 2015… only with a few more stories behind them and a few more waiting to be made.

🥞❤️ THE CLONMEL PANCAKE CHALLENGE ❤️🥞

We may have just witnessed pancake perfection.

This morning, my granddaughter Kleio created what might be the most perfect pancake ever served at Clonmel. Golden. Fluffy. Cooked to perfection. And if you look closely, it even has a heart right in the middle.

Now, we’re throwing down the gauntlet.

🏰 The Clonmel Pancake Challenge 🏰

Do you think you can make a better pancake?

✔ Perfectly round
✔ Golden brown
✔ Light and fluffy
✔ Bonus points if nature adds a heart of its own

Post your best pancake photo below and tag us. We’ll happily admire your efforts while continuing to serve some of the most delicious breakfasts on the lake.

Fair warning: beating Kleio may be harder than it looks.

“Every great breakfast starts with a little love… and apparently a heart-shaped pancake.” ❤️🥞🏰
