A small story.
For most of my real estate career, I tracked my numbers the way most agents do — well enough to file taxes, well enough to pay the bills, not well enough to actually understand the shape of my own business.
A few months ago, the dashboard I'd been building for myself surfaced a pattern in my own production that I had been blind to for years. Just sitting there in the data once you stack enough of it side by side.
That was the moment I realized two things at the same time. First — I'd been running my own business on instinct way longer than I should have. Second — if my own tool could teach me something about my own business, other agents deserved a shot at the same thing, and I owed it to them to do this properly.
So I called a lawyer.
The next ninety days were incorporation, trademarking, a stack of compliance work, and the start of an insurance review. About ten grand so far. Welcome to small business in Canada.
