Part two of our trip consisted of a 2 day archery challenge up on Sasquatch Mountain. ⛰️ (An hour north of Chilliwack). Being I only started archery a year ago, I originally didn’t sign up when Derek did.
Once we got there Friday evening and we looked around, I signed up last minute. I was a bit intimidated, but I thought what better way to get some challenging practise in. I was going anyway to watch Derek, may as well partake!
It exceeded my expectations. First shoot was through intense cloud/fog & rain. 🌧️ A fair amount of bush whacking included. There was a group of 5 of us and we were the very first to start, so we even had the bonus of having one of their photographers with us!
Second day was just the two of us and this course was a different kind of challenge. Closer targets, but lots of out and back retrieves, many times straight up or straight down. It ended with shooting at a steel bear with a small circle in the middle. You miss, you break an arrow. 🏹 So it was a relief when I made that final shot!
9 hours total. 42 targets. 18 km walked/hiked/climbed. 😁
A weekend that challenged my mind and body. I’m hooked.
