Let's make real estate jargon a little less confusing.

Amortization. This is the total length of time it would take to pay off your mortgage if you made your scheduled payments according to the terms of the mortgage.

It is different from your mortgage term, which is the length of time your current mortgage agreement and interest rate are in effect.

For example, you might have a 25 year amortization but a 5 year mortgage term.
