🎨 Calling All Artists!
The City of Pickering is inviting local Indigenous artists and artist teams to submit digital‑based artwork proposals for the Pickering Museum Village Indigenous Bench Wrap Project.
The selected artwork will be digitally reproduced, printed on vinyl, and installed on a bench along the pathway from the Dorsay Community & Heritage Centre to the Museum. This bench will become a meaningful place for visitors to pause and reflect as part of the Museum’s new permanent First Nations exhibit.
The pathway exhibit will feature 5 - 10 interactive signs exploring:
▪️The clan system
▪️Medicines connected to the clans
▪️Relationships to the waterway
This project reflects cultural teachings and territorial relationships specific to this site.
Opportunity Details:
▪️Open to Indigenous artists who are members of the Williams Treaties First Nations, ensuring the work aligns with the knowledge and traditions being shared.
▪️Project Budget: $2,500 (including HST)
