GTA Low-Rise Demand Gets Boost
In recent weeks, we’ve seen a noticeable increase in demand for low-rise new homes throughout the GTA, thanks in large part to the HST rebate program. This surge reflects a renewed buyer interest in the segment, and builders have responded by consistently bringing more low-rise options to market. As a result, the sector remains balanced, helping to keep price increases in check—a welcome development for many families looking to make their next move.
Meanwhile, the condominium sector isn’t seeing quite the same lift. Construction timing rules have limited the impact of these incentives for condos, making it a challenge for buyers and developers alike. It’s worth noting that gross pricing hasn’t changed to reflect the rebate, but for buyers who qualify, the added savings can make a significant difference in affordability and the step into homeownership.
Having worked in Toronto and the GTA for over two decades, I’ve witnessed firsthand how targeted measures like the HST rebate can shape market dynamics, support jobs, and improve long-term economic stability. Many in our industry are encouraging further action to help the condo market benefit, too. As always, I’m committed to keeping clients informed and empowered with the latest insights, ensuring your real estate experience is both rewarding and well-supported.
