FEATURE FRIDAY: Cranewood on Main - Bakery & Cafe

This week’s Feature Friday took me to Cranewood on Main, and this is one of those places where the setting is just as special as what’s being served.

Located inside the beautiful historic Cranewood property in Sackville, the bakery and café is filled with character. From the grand staircase and cozy dining rooms to the display cases filled with freshly baked breads and sweet treats, it feels warm, welcoming and completely unique.

The bakery and café are open seven days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering baked goods, café favourites and plenty of lovely spaces where you can sit and enjoy them.

Every Friday evening, Cranewood also transforms into an intimate dinner experience. Chef Kim Martin creates a seasonal menu that changes weekly, inspired by what’s fresh and local. Guests order their meals, drinks and desserts at the front counter before settling in, and everything is then delivered to their table.

Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are recommended since Friday evenings can fill quickly and a table cannot be guaranteed without one.

Another great feature I learned about during my visit is that Cranewood’s beautiful rooms can also be rented for meetings, gatherings and special events. With so many unique spaces throughout the building, it would make such a lovely setting for bringing people together.

Whether you’re stopping in for coffee and something freshly baked, enjoying lunch with a friend, experiencing a Friday night dinner or searching for a distinctive event space, Cranewood on Main is such a special part of our community, and absolutely worth a visit. 🤎

There’s just something about a good thrift-store treasure hunt.

This week’s Feature Friday took me to Second Chances Thrift Store here in Sackville and this is definitely one of those places where you never quite know what you’re going to find!

Clothing, books, furniture, dishes, jewelry, games, craft supplies, collectibles and all kinds of little treasures are tucked throughout the store. I may have spent a little extra time admiring those pretty teacups.

But what makes Second Chances even more special is the purpose behind it. ❤️

Second Chances is a non-profit thrift store and social enterprise operated by the Sackville Food Bank, with proceeds supporting food security right here in the Tantramar region.

So when you shop second-hand here, you’re not only giving something a second chance, you’re supporting people in our own community at the same time.

If you haven’t wandered through lately, it’s absolutely worth stopping in. And with thrift shopping, you know the rule… if you love it, grab it, because it might not be there next time! 😂

FEATURE FRIDAY: The Roost Café on York Street ☕

This week’s Feature Friday took Elly and me to The Roost Café on York Street and this is such a cozy little Sackville spot.

The Roost has that kind of café atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile. It’s filled with plants, unique little treasures, beautiful artwork (including pieces available for purchase!) and so many fun details tucked throughout the space.

Of course, we had to try something while we were there! Elly went for a strawberry matcha , and before we left, a gorgeous piece of chocolate cake from the display case somehow made its way home with us. 😂

Along with their drinks and baked goodies, you can also stop in for waffles, sandwiches and other treats: whether you’re meeting up with a friend, grabbing something to go or finding a cozy corner to enjoy your coffee.

One of my favourite things about Feature Friday is getting to share some of the places that give our little community its character and The Roost definitely fits the bill. The Roost Cafe On York Street

FEATURE FRIDAY: Beardsley Grange Country House & Gardens 🌿

Okay, this one really is a hidden gem.

I recently had the chance to visit Beardsley Grange Country House & Gardens, and from the moment I walked in, I loved how unique this place was. Between the gardens, vintage furniture, flowers, chandeliers and all the little details tucked throughout the property, there is so much to look at.

One of the things I tried while I was there was their DIY Craft Menu. You choose a craft from the menu and it comes with your choice of tea or lemonade. I did a pressed-flower tote bag, and it was such a fun way to spend some time there.

They also serve ice cream and host different events and activities, so there are lots of reasons to visit beyond the gardens themselves.

And can we talk about this space?! 😍 The Country House & Gardens can even be used as a wedding setting, and after seeing it in person, I can only imagine how beautiful a celebration here would be. (Speaking of… A little heads-up if this post has you wanting to visit right away: Beardsley Grange is closed this weekend for a wedding, so save this one for a future visit! )

This is exactly why I started doing Feature Fridays, there are so many interesting places tucked around our area that you might drive past without ever realizing what is there.

Super proud of this guy!!

Jamie isn’t one to talk about himself, so I’m doing it for him. 😄

He’s been quietly putting in the work, couch to 5K, and he just finished his FIRST 5K! 🏃‍♂️🔥

A couple walk breaks? Yep. Still counts? Darn right it does.

Race day is coming up, so let’s give this guy some encouragement and get him across that finish line! 👊

Teddy heard tomorrow was Monday and said absolutely not!
A little Sunday beach time before we officially have to admit the weekend is almost over.
Hope everyone had a great weekend and may your Monday be a little less dramatic than Teddy’s reaction to it. 😂
