Incorporating your business won’t protect you from a lease you signed personally.
It’s one of the points I left new entrepreneurs with this week in the Starter Company Plus program, presenting alongside Jennifer Poynton (Jennifer Poynton Desjardins Agent) of Desjardins Insurance.
While we covered alot, if you do only two things this week:
1️⃣ Check what you’ve signed personally. Leases, loans and supplier agreements often include a personal guarantee, which can put your own assets on the line even if your business is incorporated.
2️⃣ Book your will signing. If you died without a will, there could be no one with legal authority to run your business for months while the court appoints someone.
Swipe for everything we covered on the legal side 👉
Thank you to the Niagara Falls Small Business Centre (Niagara Falls Small Business Centre) for having us, to Jennifer for being a great co-presenter, and to the Niagara Falls Innovation Hub (Niagara Falls Innovation Hub) for the space. Niagara’s new business owners are building some exciting things.
