It’s beautiful. Why can’t we have baths like that nowadays

This Victorian bathtub combined a bath, shower and body-spray system in a single unit.

Produced by Shanks & Co. of Barrhead, Scotland, the “Independent Plunge, Spray and Shower Bath” was designed to stand without a separate wooden enclosure. Its cast-iron tub was paired with a curved spray section, overhead shower and integrated plumbing fittings.

Versions of Shanks’ combined spray baths were already being exhibited in the 1880s, while illustrated sanitary catalogues around 1900 showed increasingly elaborate decorated models like this one.
