I’m so excited to officially introduce Marika Huizinga as part of Lambton Home Collective.

When creating this team, I knew I wanted to surround myself with people who lead with kindness, genuinely care about others, and share the same heart for serving our community. Marika is exactly that.

She’s a mom of four, raising her family here in Petrolia alongside her supportive husband, Brad. She’s creative, incredibly smart, thoughtful, and the kind of person who makes people feel comfortable from the moment they meet her. Beyond that, she’s become a wonderful friend, and I’m so grateful for our friendship and now working alongside each other.

I truly believe the people you surround yourself with matter, and I couldn’t be happier to have Marika by my side as we continue to serve families across Lambton County.

Some dreams take time.

After nearly three years in real estate, countless lessons, incredible growth, and the privilege of helping more than 70 families find a place to call home, I’m so excited to finally share what’s next.

For me, real estate has never been about houses. It’s about people. It’s about being there during life’s biggest transitions, celebrating new beginnings, and building relationships that last long after the keys are handed over.

As a mom of four raising my family here in Petrolia, community means everything to me. This is home. It’s where my children are growing up, where so many of my clients have become friends, and where I’ve been so fortunate to build a career rooted in trust and connection. I’m also incredibly thankful for my supportive partner. He has encouraged me to dream bigger and has been my biggest supporter through this next chapter.

As my business has grown, so has the vision behind it.

That's why we are so excited to introduce People of Petrolia—a monthly series celebrating the incredible individuals who make our town such a special place to call home.

Each month, we'll sit down with someone making a meaningful impact in our community to hear their story, what inspires them, the challenges they've overcome, and the heart behind what they do. Our hope is that these conversations help us get to know the people behind the familiar faces, celebrate the good happening all around us, and remind us that the strength of a community is found in its people.

This past week, we had the privilege of sitting down with our very first guest, Janelle. As the Children's Ministry Pastor at New Life Assembly, Janelle has poured countless hours into the lives of children and families throughout Petrolia. Through Wednesday night kids' programs and summer camps, she has created a place where children can laugh, grow, belong, and simply be kids.

What stood out most wasn't just everything she does—it's the heart behind it. Her kindness, compassion, and genuine love for children have impacted so many families in our community. For countless kids, she's helped create a safe place where they feel welcomed, valued, and truly seen.

Because Petrolia isn't just a great place to live—it's the people who choose to love and serve others that make it feel like home. ❤️

What I’ve learned over the last almost three years in real estate is that this job has never really been about houses. It’s about people. Their stories, their seasons of life, the dreams they’re building, and the fresh starts they’re stepping into.

Being trusted to walk alongside someone during such a meaningful chapter is something I never take lightly. Whether it’s a first home, a forever home, a downsize, or a brand-new beginning after a hard season, every move carries so much more than boxes and keys.
