We are actually situated at the top of the Oak Ridge Moraine, which is a divide between the Lake Ontario watershed to the south, and the Lake Simcoe watershed to the north. This means that we are the first to receive the almighty rain drop! The rain water we receive is not subjected to any ot
her property’s runoff and is therefore as clean and pure as it can be - at least from what Mother Nature has to throw at us. The grass pastures and hay crops that our livestock are fed, are grown with that precious rain water – which, in turn, is their drinking water as well. All the farmland that is used to raise our livestock and to grow our feed and produce is done on pesticide (herbicide and insecticide) free soil – pesticide free for more than 40 years! Plenty clean fresh natural water is what we think is the most important factor in achieving a healthy existence for all living things. Next to that, a clean, spacious, fresh air, stress-free location and an abundance of natural food allows for a happy, friendly atmosphere…NO growth stimulants, NO hormones, NO steroids, NO antibiotics, No GMO…….JECARA FARMS continues to learn, and strives to achieve these standards. The ‘JECARA’ name was created using the names of our children. And the ‘JECARA’ logo was created using the native ‘Totem’ symbols of our children. The original goal was to grow and raise as much variety of foods as we could, off of our own property. This way we know what we are eating. If the tastes and flavours were not what we are familiar with, then we reminded ourselves that we know where it came from and we know it is good for us. In a short time, we became to love it and now are very proud of our efforts. Eventually our extended family and close friends showed more and more interest in what we were doing and it has expanded to the point where we can offer the same product, to their close friends and families as well. We choose to not get to the point where quantity becomes more important than quality! Please enjoy….. Products currently available from JECARA FARMS…….grass fed beef, whole chickens, brown eggs, lamb, fruit, vegetables, herbs and honey.
