✨ Client Spotlight: Figside Cottage

One of the things I love most about this work is getting to spend time in some truly special spaces.

Figside Cottage is a little oceanfront Airbnb in Sechelt that feels like the kind of place where you arrive intending to stay a night or two and immediately wish you’d booked longer.

It’s easy to picture a quiet anniversary getaway here, an intimate elopement, or simply a few days away to unplug and enjoy the Sunshine Coast.

When guests check out, we come in to prepare the cottage for the next arrival. A typical turnover takes about three hours and includes everything from laundry and making the beds to cleaning the kitchen and bathroom, dusting, restocking supplies, and adding those final touches that help the space feel fresh and welcoming again.

There’s something satisfying about helping reset a space after one family’s memories have been made and getting it ready for the next guests to create their own.

I’ll be sharing more of the homes and short-term rentals I look after over the coming weeks.

The extra laundry.
The overflowing dishwasher.
The mystery Tupperware containers with no lids.
The sandy floors.
The guest bathroom that somehow got absolutely annihilated.
The towels. So many towels. 😅

Long weekends are funny because you spend all weekend trying to relax, host, cook, catch up with people you love, maybe sneak in a little sunshine… and then suddenly Monday night hits and you realize you need a recovery day from the recovery day.

And before you can even fully reset, life starts right back up again:
👉school lunches, work, emails, groceries, sports, meetings, routines. 🫠

That’s usually the moment people realize:
“Oh right… the house still needs to be done too.”

If you’ve got those stubborn brown or grey rings that will not come off, it’s usually mineral buildup from hard water. Bleach won’t work.

What works is a pumice stick.

Nothing fancy. Just the right tool.

Quick how-to:
• Keep the bowl wet
• Light pressure only
• Rub the stain and it lifts right off
• Safe on porcelain (not plastic)

And just so you know, next time you hire me for a clean, I’ll throw this in.

It’s usually $10 per toilet.

It’s Thanksgiving weekend (well almost)...

Which means someone, somewhere, is already defrosting a turkey 🦃, polishing the “good” forks, and wondering why on earth they agreed to host again this year.

You know how it goes: the family arrives with pies and opinions, someone forgets the cranberry sauce, and before you know it, your kitchen looks like a culinary war zone.

The dog’s 🐕 eating stuffing off the floor, your aunt’s rearranging your spice rack, and you’re smiling through it because it’s “tradition.”

Ever seen a giant dust ball? 🍂

A few days ago I spent 8 hours resetting a space that had been well-loved by friends and family. The owners live off-coast, so at the end of their visits they are often rushing to catch a ferry.

The time it takes to properly refresh the space from top to bottom just wasn’t feasible, and over time the dust and bacterial particles had built up.

Dust doesn’t just make things look dirty.

It can hold skin cells, pet dander, pollen, mold spores, even chemicals from furniture and cleaning products.

Breathing that in can trigger allergies, aggravate asthma, and create an unhealthy living environment.

That is why this reset felt so good to tackle. I worked ceiling to floors, cleared cobwebs, washed walls, moved beds, and cleaned behind every piece of furniture.

I love pets. 🐕🐈 But if you’ve ever lived with more than one (or two… or five), you know how fast the fur and dander can take over.

I just finished a 2,500 sq ft home with multiple animals and wow… there wasn’t a single corner that didn’t need attention.

That’s the thing about pets — they bring so much love, but they also bring a whole lot of hair.

Keeping up can feel impossible, but I actually enjoy rolling up my sleeves and tackling it.

Whether it’s a full reset, regular upkeep, or one of those “help, I can’t even see my couch anymore” days, I’ve got you.
