How to Clean a Glass Cooktop ✨
Step 1 — Degrease
Spray the cooktop with Dawn Powerwash, or use water + dish soap. Both work! The goal is to loosen baked-on grease and grime while keeping the surface wet.
Step 2 — Scrub
Use a non-scratch sponge to scrub away everything that has loosened.
Step 3 — Razor Blade
Leave the product on the cooktop so the surface stays wet. Using a new razor blade, carefully scrape away any remaining burnt-on spots. Keeping the cooktop wet helps the blade glide across the surface and reduces the chance of scratching.
Step 4 — Wipe & Check
Wipe away the Powerwash/soap so you can clearly see what’s still left behind.
Step 5 — Bar Keepers Friend
For stubborn spots, apply Bar Keepers Friend and scrub with a wet, non-scratch sponge.
Still not coming off? Try wet #0000 (super-fine) steel wool. This step isn’t shown in the video.
Step 6 — Remove Product
Thoroughly wipe away all remaining cleaning product and residue.
Step 7 — Shine ✨
Finish with a 1:1 mixture of isopropyl alcohol + water to polish the cooktop and the exterior of the oven for a clean, streak-free finish.
Pro tip: Always make sure the cooktop is completely cool before cleaning, and check your manufacturer’s care instructions before using a razor blade, Bar Keepers Friend, or steel wool.
