A big shoutout to Bruce from Falkland Cedar Products for his beautiful craftsmanship on the new gazebo at the Blind Bay Cemetery.

Located at 5403 Highway 97 in Falkland, Bruce and his team created this special structure for Shuswap Lake Estates. In the future, the gazebo will serve as a place of remembrance, with a plaque inside recognizing and honouring veterans from the local area.

Thank you, Bruce, for helping create a meaningful space where families, friends, and community members can reflect and pay tribute to those who served.

Out of an abundance of caution, Shuswap Lake Utilities (Shuswap Lake Estates) has issued a WATER QUALITY ADVISORY effective June 03, 2026 until further notice due to elevated turbidity levels. This may be related to recently reported debris moving through the Shuswap watershed and into the lake. High turbidity (cloudiness) levels may occur in surface water sources due to seasonal weather changes causing excessive surface runoff, flooding or lake turnover. A high turbidity level may reduce the effectiveness of the water disinfection treatment system.

Users with weakened immune systems and/or wishing additional protection should take precautions when drinking, washing fruits and vegetables, making beverages or ice, making baby formula, or when brushing teeth. Until notified, these users are advised to:

• Bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute, or
• Use an alternate, safe source of water.
