PLEASE STOP FEEDING THE DUCKS BREAD.
They beg for it. That's the problem.
It feels kind, and the ducks will absolutely swarm you for it. But bread is junk food for waterfowl.
It fills them up with almost no nutrition, so they skip the food they actually need. Diets heavy in the wrong food are linked to "angel wing," a deformity that can twist the wing outward and leave a bird unable to fly. Uneaten bread rots in the water, feeding algae and attracting rats. And crowds of ducks packed around a feeding spot spread disease faster.
If you want to feed them, oats, cracked corn, defrosted frozen peas, and chopped lettuce or other greens are much safer. Better still, bring a camera and let them forage.
