Fall is typically my favourite season, but with the weather we’ve had this year - I’m not feeling the cozy fall vibes.
I think we can all agree Alberta forgot to order summer this year. ☔️
And while I can joke about spending most of it under an umbrella, the rain was no joke for a lot of people in our area. Between flooded basements, water damage and some truly miserable weather, it was a rough summer for more than a few homeowners.
It also got me thinking about something we don’t talk about much in real estate:
Weather affects human behaviour.
A rainy weekend means fewer people wandering through open houses. Fewer spontaneous showings. Fewer buyers saying, “Want to go look at a few houses today?”
One rainy weekend? Probably not a big deal.
But an unusually wet spring and summer? I do wonder how much activity simply got pushed down the road….
September was slower than we’ve become accustomed to, and there are obviously a LOT of factors that influence a real estate market - affordability, global uncertainty, consumer confidence.
But people are people.
And when the weather tells us to stay home for three months… sometimes we do. 😂
So I’ll be very curious to see what this fall brings.
Maybe Alberta will order us one. At least I will be coming prepared!! 🍁
