Blue bag recycling is levelling up ♻️💪

Starting Oct. 1, the list of acceptable items you can put in your blue recycle bag is expanding as part of Alberta’s enhanced recycling program.

New items that will be accepted starting Oct. 1 include:

🥔 Potato chip bags
☕ Disposable coffee cups
🫧 Bubble wrap
🥡 Foam takeout containers
🫙 Glass jars and containers
🧴 Empty hairspray and shaving cream cans

But until then, keep doing what you’re doing and we’ll be sharing more information soon to help you get ready to recycle right!

Download the Trim Your Trash app for easy sorting information and sign up for collection reminders at sprucegrove.org/Sort.

🎉 Good news! Free-cycle and Large Item Pick Up are coming soon!

♻ Have some items gathering dust that you no longer need but someone else might find useful? Place your unwanted items at the front of your property for others to take from June 13-14. If you normally store items like sports and gardening equipment outdoors, it’s a good idea to put them away during Free-cycle. If you are out looking for new treasures, remember only items at the front of properties are up for grabs.

🪑Then from June 15-19, place up to three large items, like furniture, mattresses and some appliances at the curb in front of your house on your regular waste collection day - even if your carts and blue recycling bags are picked up in the alley. Make sure the items are on your property and not on the street or sidewalk.

Before placing your items out for Free-cycle or Large Item Pick Up, make sure to read the rules and review the list of what's accepted and not accepted at sprucegrove.org/FreeCycle.
