I’ve been pretty quiet on here lately… I‘ve known since I was 19 that I’d eventually need a new hip 🦴 and I finally had it done a couple of weeks ago. I was scared 😱…In hindsight I’m not sure why. The new one is awesome 🤩 and my recovery is going super well. I can’t wait to get back to the activities that I love and to a new life free of chronic pain! Awards season always comes with a lot of gratitude posts. And I am grateful.

But this post isn’t just about awards. It’s about risk and what comes from taking chances.

Four years ago I left the fire department after 13 years. From the outside it looked like a great career. Respected. Stable. Hard to walk away from.

But behind the scenes, it was taking a toll. The things we saw… they add up. I wasn’t in a great place mentally, even if I looked fine on the surface. I knew I needed a change.

Real estate had always been something I wanted to pursue. But it felt like a leap. Firefighters are loved by everyone. Realtors… not so much. It was an uncomfortable shift. It felt risky.

Four years later I’m sitting in the top 10% of agents in the GVRD and third in my office at Macdonald Realty — behind two people I deeply respect who’ve been doing this much longer than I have.

I’m proud of that. But I’m even more proud that I listened to my gut when it would’ve been easier to stay safe.

If something inside you keeps nudging you toward a change, don’t ignore it.

Life’s too short to ignore your gut and your heart. Take the leap. It’s worth it even though it will scare you completely.
