Providing 4 fan blower door test.
Here we have 2 of the fans used to measure the air leakage. This was a guarded test during mid construction. There was another 2 fans utilized to provide a “gaurd” this is to neutralize the pressure and allow us to test only the small zone and not a whole building.
Whole building testing is ultimately the best however with large project scheduling it is hard to do so small guarded test is utilized as a sample set.
Additionally smoke testing was used to help identify air leakage pathways.

This week I was happy to help Passive House Canada with equipment for their testing program ran in Calgary at the SAIT Green Building Lab.
I supplied them with the Retrotec equipment.
This was beneficial for the course and also myself to sit in and participate in a class taught by other industry experts. Learning never stops

This building has been having water entry for a while at the rear of the building. In the images, you can see a large hole just at the right side the door as well as a sheet metal duct once was used for fresh combustion air into the mechanical room. This runs down the exterior of the foundation and enters below grade. On the interior, the ductwork can be seen where the joints have completely failed. It has rusted out and has filled full of dirt and material brought in from the exterior with rain.
The area around this has seen years of water entry and damage.
