We made the news 🎉

Our 3rd Annual Accessible Easter Egg Hunt now has over 200 kids registered — and this moment means so much more than just an event.

It highlights the real and growing need in our community for inclusive, accessible experiences. Families are looking for spaces where everyone belongs — from children to seniors — without barriers.

This is bigger than one day.
It’s about breaking down barriers, creating connection, and building a community where inclusion is the standard, not the exception.
Accessible. Inclusive. Unstoppable. 💛

Some days remind you why you do the work you do. 💙

Today I had the privilege of being part of something very special. I was able to work with a wonderful family to sample and explore accessibility equipment for their home — helping them find the right solutions to improve safety, independence, and everyday living.

Moments like this are powerful. When families can try equipment, ask questions, and truly see what will work in their home, it takes away so much stress and uncertainty.

A huge thank you to the incredible Vienna Swans 🦢 — a truly amazing not-for-profit organization — who stepped in to help financially support the equipment for this family. Their generosity will make a real difference in this home and in this family’s daily life.

This is what community looks like.
People coming together to create access, independence, and opportunity.

I’m so grateful to be part of these moments.
Accessibility truly turns stress into independence.

The homes people are searching for right now?
Universal design homes.

✔ Multigenerational families planning ahead
✔ Seniors wanting to age in place
✔ Buyers looking to avoid costly renovations later
✔ A growing demand for barrier-free living

While Ontario is still behind in building these homes, countries like Australia are already leading the shift toward universal housing design.

As an Accessibility Realtor & Mobility Specialist, I see it every day — the demand isn’t coming… it’s already here.

Q&A Series ❄️♿️ | Winter Edition

Q: Why do power wheelchair users sometimes drive on the road in winter?

A: Because the sidewalks aren’t maintained enough to be safe.

Snowbanks, ice buildup, uneven plowing, and narrowed sidewalks can make sidewalks completely impassable for power wheelchair users. When sidewalks aren’t cleared properly, people are forced to choose the least unsafe option — and sometimes that’s the road.
This isn’t about convenience.

It’s about access, safety, and independence.
❄️ If sidewalks aren’t cleared curb-to-curb
❄️ If ramps are buried or icy
❄️ If snowbanks block crossings

👉 People using mobility devices are left with no real alternative.

Accessibility doesn’t stop in winter.
Clear sidewalks = safer communities for everyone.

💬 Have you noticed sidewalk conditions in your neighbourhood?
📢 Share this to help explain the reality people face every winter.

Accessibility isn’t a niche issue — it’s a life issue.
If we design spaces for the most vulnerable, we create better spaces for everyone.

Let’s stop treating accessibility like an upgrade — and start treating it like a right. 💜

🚻 Installing a Lift & Height-Adjustable Change Table in a Bathroom — What It Really Takes ♿️

Adding a ceiling lift or portable lift and a height-adjustable change table can be life-changing — but it has to be done right to be safe, functional, and stress-free.

Here’s what we look at during an accessibility bathroom consult 👇

🔍 Step 1: Space & Layout
✔️ Minimum 360° turning radius for wheelchairs and caregivers
✔️ Clear pathways for transfers
✔️ Enough room for two caregivers, if required

🛠 Step 2: Lift Planning
✔️ Ceiling structure can support a track system (or portable lift footprint)
✔️ Proper clearance from walls, fixtures, and door swings
✔️ Safe transfer zones from wheelchair → change table → toilet

🛁 Step 3: Height-Adjustable Change Table
✔️ Adjustable height for caregiver safety (protects backs!)
✔️ Space beside and around the table for lift access
✔️ Easy-to-clean materials and splash-safe placement

🚽 Step 4: Toilet & Sink Access
✔️ Toilet positioned for side or front transfers
✔️ Sink reachable from seated and standing positions
✔️ Lever handles, knee clearance, and mirror height considered

🚪 Step 5: Doors & Entry
✔️ Door width for mobility devices
✔️ Sliding or outward-swing doors to maximize space
✔️ No thresholds or barriers

🧩 Step 6: The Big Picture
Accessibility isn’t about squeezing equipment in — it’s about flow, dignity, safety, and independence.

• Families planning now or for the future
✨ When accessibility is planned properly, it turns stress into independence.
