YUnite Outside 🥶

What an incredible evening. We connected as a team, and as strangers-turned-acquaintances striving for a common goal: connecting with our youth.

It was a night of (literal) discomfort sleeping outside in the cold, but also through digging deeper into our thoughts, feelings and unconscious bias around homelessness or “living rough".

It was transformative for all involved.

Lastly, thank YOU to all of you who contributed through generous donations, sharing of my posts, and coming to visit before the sleep out.

My pledge through this experience is to continue to find ways to help tell the stories of our fellow human beings - that is someone’s sibling; someone’s child; someone’s baby out there.

I don’t know if it was yesterday (Sep 28) or Mar 4 (according to Google), but the occasion is National Sons Day!

It was a challenge to sift through the billion photos I’ve taken of the boys 😆 that capture their ever-evolving personalities, but here are 10 of them.

The first pic depicts a typical morning in the Green household; if I’m not already out the door for early AM training sessions these monsters are our alarm clocks…at 6am ready to party! 😂

Cruz is a confident little dude. He initiates and engages in conversations with kids and adults alike. He is insightful, seeking answers to satisfy his insatiable curiosity for what he sees around him.

Beck is a unit. Fearless to a fault, he takes leaps off tall playgrounds knowing mommy or daddy will be there to catch him. His vocabulary is growing at an incredible rate, and his obsession with “daddy’s truck key 🔑 “ is annoyingly cute. Dude, I gotta drive…please give me the key back! 😂

They are challenging; they are the apples of my eye; they are reflections of Mysha and I; they are the reason I get up each day and do what I do.

They are silly; they are boundlessly energetic; they are a handful; they are the snuggliest.

They personify the dichotomy of calm and excitement; we feel so blessed to have them in our lives.

They are becoming buddies more and more each day, and as excited as I am to see them grow up together, I truthfully don’t want it to happen too fast 🥲

Question is: are they going to be Seahawks fans or not? (they’re already BC Lions fans, so that’s a good start) 🤪

Allow me to reintroduce myself 😎 …my name is HO - H to the OV… (a Jay-Z reference in case ya didn’t know!)🤪

Actually, my name is Kevin, and I’m a REALTOR with Katrina & The Team. One of the things I’m truly passionate about is human connection, and our innate human desire to be a part of something beyond ourselves.

I live in the beautiful oceanside community of South Surrey and White Rock, where the ocean 🌊 meets lush forests 🌳, and wildlife 🦌, all wrapped with the sincere warmth of all who reside here. Deep down, we yearn to be a part of a community; to have a sense of belonging. South Surrey and White Rock, you truly are our HOME. 🏡

You’ll often find me running 🏃‍♂️ up and down Marine Drive 🥵, following my two boys around as they ride their bikes 🚲 or motorized Jeep 🛻 or enjoying the wonderful eateries by the beach with my wife.

Well, I got knocked on my a$$ the past 3 weeks. 🤒

A headache with a mild fever and a cough turned into a 40+ degree fever, pretty serious pneumonia and a 6-day stay at the hospital 😫

I’ve been recovering at home, and slowly getting better. Getting sick to this degree though, has made evident for me something that I need to prioritize - getting more sleep and giving myself a chance to recover daily.

I’m grateful for the care I received at Peace Arch Hospital. I’m grateful for my family and friends who came to visit. I’m grateful for the calls, texts and DM’s I received (and missed) from those who noticed my absence or cared enough to check in.

Thanks to my clients for giving me time to recover and colleagues for assisting and offering to assist during my absence.

Looking forward to getting back at it soon. 👊🏽
