The City of Fort St. John says it is waiving development charges for a proposed new seniors housing complex near the hospital.

We are pleased to announce our Development Permit received conditional approval from the City of Fort St. John! Harlequin at Prairie Rose Park is now accepting applications or additional information for the 116 Seniors Independent Living Rental Homes planned for Winter 2023 availability.

We encourage everyone who is interested in tenancy or additional information to Register Today (link to https://harlequinfortstjohn.com/) in order to be among the first inline.

As you know we have partnered with VRS Communities (https://www.vrs.org/seniors-communities/) to realize this project - an exciting step forward, and an integral part of our community Master Plan! VRS Communities is a non-profit housing provider committed to housing affordability and seniors living services. They have been operating since 1972 throughout the Province of BC.

What’s Next:

Our recent provincial grant request was not approved, so in order to make the project more affordable for local seniors, VRS Communities is seeking additional funding from Fort St. John community organizations, companies and grants.

We encourage everyone to contact your MLA, MP and Council and Regional District Board members and let them know that we need their help. The community of Fort St. John deserves funding to ensure the project's rental rates can be further reduced:

The Rotary Club of Fort St. John is excited to announce we'll be returning to the griddles for this year's Drive Thru Breakfast, set for Sept. 9 in the Safeway parking lot.

This year we're raising funds to support local seniors programs and projects, and aiming to serve 1,500 people.

Get your pre-orders in today! Businesses and residents can pre-order their breakfasts now and have them delivered (minimum order of 10) or ready for pick up on the day of the Breakfast. Minimum donations are $10.

They're asking people to join them for some fun by having Cooking with Shu teach a class on preparing a delicious meal.

100% of the profits will go to support the Rotary Club's effort to help the Covid Crisis in India.

This was the outcome that we had hoped for. A big thank you to the mayor and council for supporting the important vision for this project by passing the variances were needed to progress the development permit.

There have been several questions related to the type of housing.
We are happy to confirm that all of the 116 units are rentals and the building will be owned and operated by a non profit group.
