Surrey homeowners, you can get up to four native trees for just $20 each through the city’s fall tree sale. 🌲

The City of Surrey is opening its Fall Tree Sale online which started August 18 and is on until Sept 1. If you live in Surrey or South Surrey, this program lets you purchase quality, native trees to plant on your residential property at a massive discount compared to retail nurseries.

Beyond just adding curb appeal to your yard, planting mature canopy trees helps cool down our neighborhoods during summer heatwaves, manages stormwater runoff, and boosts long term property value across our residential streets.

Trees sell out fast every single year, so you will want to set an alarm for the launch date. Purchases are done online, with pickup scheduled for later in the fall at the Surrey Nature Centre.

Are you planning to grab trees for your yard this round, or is your property already fully landscaped?

Surrey City Centre is about to change forever.

The city just approved a massive $360 million agreement in principle to build a brand new 10,000-seat arena right across from City Hall. The best part? The Vancouver Giants are officially planning to move in as the anchor tenant.

This is more than just a hockey rink. The five-acre site at 10355 King George Boulevard will become a massive entertainment district. It will feature a luxury hotel, major conference spaces, a public plaza, and new housing.

For local property owners and investors, this type of rapid infrastructure boost typically drives massive long-term demand and completely reshapes area values. The target opening is set for 2030.

Are you looking at the Surrey City Centre property market differently after this news?

Four homes on a single single-family lot in South Surrey. 🏘️

Small-scale multi-unit housing is officially landing in our neighborhoods under BC's new housing legislation. Passing by this site, seeing four individual homes going up where just one family house used to sit was a real "the future is here" moment.

This shift is designed to create more attainable housing options for buyers looking to stay in South Surrey without taking on a full single-family price tag. But it also changes the look, feel, and density of our traditional residential streets.

Higher density brings more housing options, but it also raises questions about street parking, neighborhood character, and infrastructure.

Would you be happy to see a fourplex built next door on your street, or do you think this density belongs closer to main transit corridors?

The biggest excuse for not moving to South Surrey just became obsolete. 🚇
80,000 vehicles squeeze through a four lane tunnel every day. That tunnel was built in 1959.

Now it is finally being replaced. $8.5 billion. And on July 2, Ottawa committed up to $3 billion of it.

This is not another announcement. Prep work already started. Major construction begins in 2027. The new tunnel opens in 2031.
And here is the sleeper headline. One lane each way is for transit only. First time in almost 70 years. Plus a protected bike and walking path across the Fraser.

I made a full video breaking down what this means for our area. Comment "Youtube" and I will send you the link. 🎥

Nearly $26 million is coming to the White Rock pier 🌊

The federal government announced funding to help rebuild and protect our iconic pier for the future.

The plan includes replacing the wooden section with concrete piles and a concrete deck, plus adding a new breakwater. Total estimated cost sits around $28.5 million, with the city and climate adaptation funds covering the rest.

If you remember the 2018 storm, you know how vulnerable our waterfront can be. Upgrading to concrete should help the pier handle severe storms and rising sea levels for decades to come.

Construction is expected to run from late 2026 through 2028. It is a massive project, but it protects the heart of our waterfront and the local businesses that rely on beach traffic.

What do you think about switching from classic wood to concrete for the pier?

AI said $250,000 in repairs. Two contractors said $17,000 and $19,000.

The buyer had already cancelled. He lost the house over a number no one had verified.

AI can summarize an inspection report. It cannot price the work. Only a contractor who has actually walked the property can do that.

Surrey City Council just greenlit a massive change for that new construction site you keep passing at the South Surrey Athletic Park.

The brand new four million dollar covered sports box next to Semiahmoo Secondary is almost finished. It is going to be a massive hub for local lacrosse and ball hockey leagues.

But instead of leaving it as a plain, gray industrial building, the city just approved an extra one hundred and ten thousand dollars for a single upgrade.

The entire exterior is getting covered in a giant public art mural by local artist Ali Bruce. The design will feature vibrant landscapes inspired by our local mountains and ocean.

Construction wraps up at the end of this month, completely transforming this corner of South Surrey.

Some neighbors think four million dollars was plenty to spend on a sports box without adding a massive bill for paint. Others are thrilled to see some local color replacing cold metal panels.

Where do you stand on this? Do you prefer clean industrial buildings or colorful public art in our local parks?
