📈 Canada’s job market bounced back strongly in May 2026!
✅ 88,000 jobs added nationwide
✅ Unemployment fell to 6.6%
✅ Average hourly wages rose 3.0% year-over-year to $37.24
British Columbia led the way:
🔹 25,000+ jobs added
🔹 Employment up 0.9%
🔹 Metro Vancouver gained jobs and unemployment dropped to 6.4%
After four months of job losses, May delivered encouraging signs of strength, particularly in the private sector. While economic uncertainty remains, this positive employment report may support the Bank of Canada’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged later this month.
