Good Tuesday morning everyone, from the other side of the garage!

This week we’re showing you Nick’s summer studio! When the weather is warm, the garage becomes his music space, where he can sit behind the drums and play away.

And in the winter? The drum set moves indoors and becomes part of the Jasper Room! So yes, depending on the season, our guesthouse has a slightly different soundtrack!

We also want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out and supported the local artists during the Studio Tour this past weekend. It was a success, and thankfully the weather held out for the most part!

Supporting local artists means supporting creativity, community, and the people who put their hearts into making something unique.

Thank you for showing up, cheering us on, and supporting locals!

The Studio Tour weekend is here! So much to see not enough time! I'm sure all artists have a plan for rain or shine.
Hope to see you today or tomorrow between 10 to 4.

Rain or shine, we have a Plan A and a Plan B!

The forecast may be looking a little… artistic for this weekend 😂🌧️ — but that’s not stopping us!

Bruce Peninsula Society of Art
Studio Tour is happening this weekend August 22 & 23, 10 AM–4 PM, and we’re excited to be one of the stops.

Come visit Neda's mixed media- Orange Bicycle Creations, Bettina's resin Jewellry-Pencil and Dirt and Mark's photography at 5 Warner Bay Rd., meet the artists, see our work, and have a peek behind the scenes.

Rain? We have a plan.
Sun? We have a plan.
Art and fun? Definitely!

See you this weekend — umbrellas or sunglasses, depending on what Mother Nature decides! 😉

From Keyzers Farm to our breakfast table.

Last week we picked up fresh blueberries, plums and apples… and the very next morning, some of those goodies made their way into breakfast, blueberry croissant puffs and fruit salad. What a fun day at Keyzer's fruit farm near Paisley.

This is one of my favourite parts of summer at Orange Bicycle: local, fresh, and made with a little love.

Good glorious Tuesday morning everyone ! When the Bike Workshop becomes an Art Studio!

This week, we're taking you behind the scenes at Orange Bicycle!

Our garage is normally Nick's kingdom—bike repairs, tools, tune-ups, and generally a place where I try not to touch anything.

But lately, I've been making more of my art, so Nick very generously gave me a little corner of his workshop to turn into my art space.

Because apparently, when you run a business together, you don't need more space… you just need to negotiate who gets which corner!

So here's a little peek at me making my art, right in the middle of Nick's workshop.

And honestly, I kind of love it. Bikes on one side, art on the other… very Orange Bicycle! Next week we'll show you the other part of the garage, his music space!

Have you ever had to share your workspace with someone you live and work with?

Our first Pow Wow at Cape Croker or Neyaashiinigmiing! What a beautiful experience—amazing dancing, music, colour, and the incredible regalia, especially the beautiful jingle dresses.

Home to the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation, Cape Croker is an important part of the Bruce/Saugeen Peninsula. We’re making an effort to learn, listen, and build a genuine connection with the community and its culture.

We’d love to help our guests discover Indigenous culture here in the Bruce/Saugeen Peninsula in a respectful way. In fact, our guests are stopping at Cape Croker on their way home after staying with us this weekend.

A beautiful day of learning, connection and celebration. And of course I managed to shop, no surprise 🫢

If you missed yesterday or today, you still have a chance to experience this beautiful community with all the colors, tomorrow from 6 am sunrise ceremony till 4 pm

It’s becoming an annual tradition! A visit to Sandhill Creek Sunflower Farm for a little sunflower happiness.

And this year, we had the sweetest surprise—running into Kathleen from Kathleen ! Small world, especially when you’re out enjoying beautiful local places.

A big thank you to Rosanne and Bart for all the dedication, hard work and love they put into creating this beautiful place. We’re already looking forward to next year!

They are open till Sunday, I hope you can make it down there to the magical sunflower path!

The Studio Tour is almost here!

I stopped by the Lion's Head The Art Shoppe for a quick chat with Nicole about Bruce Peninsula Society of Art
Studio Tour, August 22–23.

And guess what? Five artists who have work at the Art Shoppe will also be part of the tour — including me!

Am I ready yet? Umm… nowhere close! But we’re getting there!

Come see what we’ve been creating!

Good beautiful Tuesday morning everyone! Guess what we're talking about today. Tobermory is NOT a day trip!

Yes, the Grotto is gorgeous. Flowerpot Island is iconic. And yes, you should absolutely see them!

But if you come here, take a few pictures, check two things off your list and drive home… you missed the point!

Tobermory is about slowing down.

Have a coffee. Take a walk. Browse the little shops. Sit by the water. Have a long lunch, even take a nap. Watch the sunset. And maybe, just maybe… do absolutely nothing.

Because sometimes the best thing you can do on vacation is nothing at all.

Come for the Grotto.
Stay for Tobermory.
And please… give yourself more than 24 hours!

Good Tuesday morning everyone, well we celebrated Nick's birthday this weekend!

When we met, I had already immigrated to Canada, finished school, and thought I had life all figured out. Then along came this young guy, who somehow convinced me to give him a chance.

When we started dating I remember thinking, "This is not going to work. He's just a kid!"

Well, somehow that "kid" grew up to become my business partner, travel partner, hiking partner, coffee partner, and the guy who fixes all the things I break around the guesthouse. Twenty-eight years later, we're still celebrating birthdays together and we still making each other laugh.

So here's to Nick! Happy Birthday to the man who pleasantly proved me wrong.

And yes, he still gets reminded every year that I'm older. Some traditions are too important to give up.
