Not only are rent prices rising rapidly, but there is also a scarce amount of available apartments for rent in Toronto.

CBC News has highlighted the concerning impact on Canadian renters, particularly in Toronto. As corporate and foreign ownership of rental properties increases, rents are skyrocketing, making housing unaffordable and unavailable.

Our community group, 50,000 Apartments Now, is actively working to address the vacancy crisis in Toronto and advocate for affordable housing solutions.

The shortage of affordable housing in Toronto has led to skyrocketing rental prices and limited availability of quality rental units, making it increasingly challenging for individuals and families to find stable housing.

We believe a solution is to increase the penalties on investors holding condo units and not renting them out. It is estimated that there could be 65,000 units that unoccupied. This would increase the supply and bring down rental prices for everyone.
