On Wednesday Sep. 4th, the Bank of Canada delivered its third consecutive interest rate cut, dropping the policy rate to 4.25%. With inflation slowing down and a mixed economic outlook, what does this mean for your home ownership journey? 🤔

Here are 3 key takeaways from the Bank of Canada’s latest move:

🏡 1. More Cuts Expected
With inflation cooling but at risk of falling too low, economists predict further rate cuts later this year. A 25 basis point cut could be coming in October, with another expected in December. Keep an eye out—these cuts could make borrowing more affordable.

🏘️ 2. Housing Market Activity Remains Slow
Despite increased inventory, available homes aren’t matching buyers’ needs. According to John Lusink, President of Right at Home Realty, “Home ownership is still out of reach for many. It will take at least two more rate cuts before housing market activity picks up beyond a superficial uptick.”

🏙️ 3. Opportunities in the Condo Market
While single-family homes remain scarce, Lusink notes, “There is ample opportunity in the condo segment.” Older homeowners are hesitant to downsize, but now might be the perfect time to consider a condo🏠
