I think Imperial Plaza, the converted old Head Office of Imperial Oil, is the most iconic landmark in mid town Toronto. It's dear to my heart from an architectural and personal standpoint.
It was built in 1957, the year my Architect dad Vladan and eventual Real Estate Broker mom Ingrid immigrated to Canada. They fled eastern Europe because architectural creativity was stifled. My dad always commented how Imperial Plaza symbolized the timeless design from an era when modern design was fast approaching its zenith.
The personal connection is that the my parents became dear friends of the painter York Wilson. He created the 2 murals one sees entering the impressive grand lobby off of St Clair. Engraving the history of Imperial Oil in the Plaza, York Wilson’s famous murals ‘The Story of Oil’, adorn the east and west sides of the interior walls. The grand lobby has been preserved rather than decorated.
The only 3 bedroom corner suite in imperial Plaza is now available for purchase. With amazing south and east views, this 3 +1 3 bath suite boasts 10 foot ceilings throughout and 1535 square feet of cleverly laid out area that was custom designed by the Developer's President for the Owners.
First time available at $1,899,000. Please Share with anyone who you think might like to know about the Suite and Imperial Plaza.
