𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐭. We all want to get around and enjoy our lives to the fullest. Here’s how a cane, walking stick, or walker can help you (or a loved one) stay active:
👩🦯 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬: If you can walk but need an everyday mobility aid to reduce the pressure on your legs, try an 𝐚𝐝𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐞, a 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐞 (also called a four-prong cane), a 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐞 (great for stashing in your bag), or a 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐞 (which distributes pressure from your wrist to your arm).
👩🦯 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬: Though they can’t take as much weight as canes can, they’re great for occasional support with balance and mobility.
👩🦯 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬: If you’re unstable when you walk, have difficulty walking more than a few steps, or otherwise need extra assistance with walking, try a 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫 (with no wheels), a 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫 (great for outdoors), or a 𝐫𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 (with swivelling front wheels and brakes).
Which one’s right for you? For guidance, ask your healthcare provider.
