The key components of a septic system, which is responsible for treating and disposing of household wastewater. Wastewater from the house flows through a pipe into the septic tank, where solids (sludge) settle to the bottom while the liquid effluent is discharged through a pipe to the distribution box. The distribution box ensures the even distribution of effluent into the leach field. In the leach field, the effluent is filtered through soil and absorbed back into the ground. Regular maintenance, including cleaning the septic tank via the cleanout pipe, ensures the system operates efficiently. This natural filtration process is crucial for waste management in areas without centralized sewage systems.
