While this is not great news, it does shed light on a few positive things. First is that it wakes people up to the reality of separating needs and wants. As hard a lesson as this may be, it has to be learned. Second, it creates opportunity for people who have done this and are ready to move their lives forward. Third, it's not necessarily 'the end of the road' for people nearing default. Conversations with a good real estate agent, an account and a lawyer may pluck you out of the jaws of delinqency and back into black ink with a solid financial future. Don't let "pride" get in your way to a solution. Life may not be easy, but home ownership and all the doors it opens should enable, rather than hobble, your future. Reach out to a pro, whether you think you can afford it or not. You may wake up tomorrow with a smile rather than dread.
