A story of panic, kindness & the importance of picking the right neighbourhood: 📖
This afternoon around lunchtime, the twins & I decided to take Christina 🐶 on a nice long walk to enjoy their last day of summer break. While walking down College Road, nearing the Rec Park, Christina picked up an empty (presumably vodka) bottle so we stopped to try and get it from her. While doing so, she managed to slip her collar and bolted down the sidewalk in the opposite direction. So we ran. If you saw us (me trying hard to keep up with the twins and them giving it their all down College Rd) - I hope you enjoyed the show…😂
Anyway, after a couple minutes that felt like forever, I called Andrew to come help while the twins continued after her. But she’s FAST and they lost sight of her and a little bit of panic started setting in. Thinking she was heading toward the Jr High, we kept going, and I called Andrew again to see where he was.
What’s important to mention here though, at this point of the story, is that almost everyone I passed on College Road asked if they could help or if I wanted to hop in for a ride down the street. Meanwhile the man that was driving the Dodsworth Landscaping truck pulled over to try and get her and then continued to follow her as she continued to run off.
Anyway - to all of our relief and complete surprise, he followed her all the way HOME! Right to our front step. She cut loose to run…straight home. To say we were relieved is an understatement!
In what turned out to be a happy & light ending (that could have easily ended much differently), the takeaways are:
🐾 Our girl is fast. And apparently very smart with a good memory.
🏡 Picking your neighborhood is just as important as picking out your house! The kindness and willing to help from almost everyone around didn’t go unnoticed and things like that are what make me so grateful for our community and where we chose to live! ✨
🙏 To the guy driving the Dodsworth Landscaping truck, thank you! You didn’t have to do any of that, but you did and that was so kind and so appreciated!
As you can see, she is fine and unphased (unlike me) 😆
