Last week was an exciting one at our Subaru site, with the assembly of the tower crane and a visit from Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim.

Together with Ridgetechone, the Kindred team walked Mayor Sim through the crane assembly process, from the crane foundation and formwork to the planning and coordination required to bring it all together.

The tour also created an opportunity to discuss some of the evolving requirements surrounding tower crane activity in Vancouver, including safety documentation, approvals and traffic management, and how the industry and government can continue working together to support safe and efficient construction.

A great moment for the project teams and a chance to share more of what goes into preparing a construction site for its next stage of work.

We’re excited to announce the completion of a newly expanded and renovated Audi dealership in North Vancouver.

The 27,415 sf project includes a horizontal addition and renovation to the existing two-storey commercial building, creating a new service drive-thru and customer reception area, expanded showroom, and relocated primary entrance. Inside, the updated dealership features a renovated New Vehicle Display, exclusive Audi Sport Stage, and new interior glazing throughout.

The exterior was also transformed with new curtain walls, Audi’s signature honeycomb perforated aluminum cladding, and new aluminum composite panel cladding at the service drive-thru.

That’s 3 for 3 on the foundation work at North Shore Neighbourhood House Phase 2 (NSNH2).

The third and final slab on grade (SOG) pour is officially complete, wrapping up this stage of work and marking another milestone for the team on site.

Our SOG trilogy comes to an end for this 18-storey mass timber development, but there’s plenty more progress ahead.

Some exciting news from the Kindred team… Shelby Clerihue, Director of People & Culture, has earned a spot on this year’s SITE 40 Under 40 Industrial Leaders list!

The timing feels pretty fitting, as Shelby also just celebrated 10 years with Kindred.

Shelby’s influence extends well beyond her role at Kindred. Through her work with our team and as Vice President of Canadian Construction Women (CCW), she continues to contribute to a more inclusive construction industry while encouraging our people to grow both personally and professionally.

Whether it’s mentoring young women entering construction, providing career guidance, developing future leaders, navigating a difficult situation, or simply taking the time to listen, Shelby consistently shows up for those around her.

We are excited to announce our role in Tseqwtsúqum̃, a Nation-led, purpose-built mixed-use development on Lil̓wat Nation’s traditional territory in Whistler’s Function Junction, Tseqwtsúqum̃ (Chek-choo-koom).

Spanning three buildings across a 5.3-acre site, the development will deliver 72 rental homes, including a mix of one- to three-bedroom homes, alongside approximately 25,000 sf of ground-floor commercial space. The development will also include an underground parkade in Building B, with future plans for a gas station and convenience store.

Developed in close collaboration with Lil̓wat Nation and the design team, Tseqwtsúqum̃ brings together much-needed year-round workforce housing and commercial space while reflecting the cultural heritage, environmental context, and values of the Nation. As the largest project undertaken by the Lil̓wat Business Group to date, the development represents an important investment in the Nation’s community and future, while creating opportunities for long-term Indigenous and non-Indigenous employment.

With more than 250 submissions and only 100 finalists selected, it’s an exciting achievement and well-deserved recognition of Shelby’s contributions to Kindred and the broader construction industry.

Last week, the Kindred team hit the fairways (and occasionally the trees) at Morgan Creek Golf Course for our annual Site Super Social Golf Tournament.

The plan was for a relaxed day of friendly competition. Instead, it quickly turned into a highly competitive, and very entertaining tournament. Even with wet conditions for the first half of the day, spirits stayed high and no one let the weather get in the way of a great round.

This event is one we look forward to every summer as it’s a chance to connect with new teammates, catch up with familiar faces, and spend a day together outside the job site.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made it another fantastic tournament, and congratulations to this year’s winning team!

The satisfaction of witnessing the tangible results of Kindred’s project teams’ hard work, combined with the fulfillment of helping deliver projects from preconstruction through to completion, is among the aspects Danny Emerson, Project Director, values most about his role at Kindred Construction and his career in the construction industry.

Over the past 18 years, Danny has grown alongside Kindred, beginning as a Project Coordinator and advancing to Project Director. He credits much of his professional growth to the mentorship and guidance he received from the Reid family, along with the many colleagues and leaders he has had the opportunity to learn from throughout his career. Their support has shaped his approach to navigating challenges, building strong relationships, and leading project teams with confidence.

As Project Director, Danny oversees strategic planning, budgeting, stakeholder management, and team leadership, helping guide projects from planning through ex*****on. He especially enjoys bringing together diverse teams and working collaboratively with clients, consultants, and trade partners to deliver successful projects.

Outside of work, Danny is an avid sports fan who enjoys playing hockey and golf, travelling, attending live sporting events, and spending time at concerts and outdoor music festivals.

We’re excited to announce our 7th project with Dilawri!

This new three-storey, 60,278 sq. ft. Subaru dealership will feature a full-service service centre, customer reception and service areas, administrative offices, parts storage, and a vehicle showroom. The development also includes a rooftop parking deck, dedicated new vehicle delivery spaces, employee amenities, and end-of-trip facilities.

Designed with concrete foundations, concrete masonry walls, and a structural steel frame supporting the Level 3 showroom, the dealership will incorporate high-performance curtain wall glazing, aluminum composite panel cladding, and durable roofing systems to support the rooftop parking deck.

We’re proud to continue our long-standing partnership with Dilawri and look forward to delivering another exceptional automotive facility.
