GREAT NEWS - The Bank of Canada held their benchmark interest rate this morning at 5.00% for the third consecutive time.
Prior to that we saw 10 rate increases in the 12 meetings dating back to March 2022. Inflation numbers dropped to 3.10% in October, down from 3.80% in September. The November data has yet to be reported.

Effective yesterday rental rules changed!

Renal rules have now changed for all strata buildings in British Columbia. As of yesterday the Premier of British Columbia has taken away virtually all rental restrictions for strata buildings. A strata can still limit short-term rentals an Airbnb but other than that any owner can rent their unit out now. In addition the age restrictions have changed. There is no more age 19+ restriction it is just a 55+ restriction that is permitted.‏Sadly, people that bought into buildings that did not allow children and did not want young adults no longer have that choice.

 Rental restrictions in stratas are now gone, except for the age 55+ and short restrictions bylaws are still in effect.

BILL 44 – BUILDING AND STRATA STATUTES AMENDMENT ACT, 2022
NOW IN EFFECT
With the passing of Bill 44 strata corporations across BC will no longer be able to enforce bylaws that prohibit or restrict rentals, only age restriction bylaws of 55 and over that apply to occupancy are now enforceable and electronic meetings are permitted without the need for a bylaw.
