Steady optimism feels worth naming today.

I listened to Prime Minister Mark Carney speaking at the World Economic Forum, and I was impacted by his clarity. By his ability to address this moment with real historical context, and with a deep certainty in the many values that underpin Canada.

I came away feeling genuinely optimistic about our economic future.

That kind of optimism and stability matters.

I am very hopeful that Canada can pursue a path of democratic prosperity that looks like investment in social security. Investment in essential infrastructure at every corner of the country and domestic economic stability that allows all of our citizens to thrive.

2025 unfolded in a way that asked me to listen more carefully to my values and my capacity.

The year began by closing a long and rewarding chapter, one that shaped me deeply as a business person and a leader. What followed was a quieter season of reflection and honesty about how I want to work and what I want my energy to be in service of.

That clarity led me to focus on a smaller, deeply aligned real estate practice rooted in trust, collaboration, and thoughtful care. It also guided our move to Oakwyn Realty , a partnership that feels genuinely aligned in values and vision.

This year also gave me the gift of presence. I have loved recalibrating how I show up with my family and being more available in the everyday moments that matter most. I am proud of our kids and the care they bring to their learning and creative lives.

I am deeply proud of my wife, Taryn, for stepping into a board chair role with an East Van based nonprofit housing society, and grateful for the chance to give back myself by joining the board of Zee Zee Theatre.

And then there was joy. Q***r As Funk! closing out the year with a sold out show at the Wise Hall. A gorgeous reminder of the power of creating community.🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈

More than anything, 2025 reinforced that alignment shows up everywhere.
In our work. In our homes. In our communities.

Every October our pumpkin giveaway reminds me how much joy there is in giving back. 🎃
What started as a small neighbourhood tradition has become one of my favourite days of the year, a chance to gather, laugh, and share a little abundance.

This year, thanks to everyone who joined in, we were able to donate five big boxes of food to Saige Community Food Bank. I’m endlessly grateful for this community and all the ways we show up for each other.

And then, on Halloween night, I was struck again by how generous our neighbours are. From incredible decorations to thoughtful accessibility touches to handing out treats in the rain with so much heart, the care and creativity across our blocks made the night feel magical for every kid out there.

Moments like these remind me that community isn’t just something we talk about, it’s something we create together. 🧡
