Cambie Village is a community for everyone, of all ages: schools and parks abound all over the neighbourhood for the young and energetic👧, and for the little bit older👨‍🦰, there are plenty of restuarants and things to do too.

But what about the older locals👴? Rest assured, Cambie Village has community fun for senior-aged folks as well! And one terrific upcoming event for the older set is coming up this Saturday, August 1st, at Queen Elizabeth Park.

A Seniors' BBQ 🍖Day will be happening at 11AM, organized by the good people at Where You Belong Inc, a home care service for local seniors👴.

The BBQ features a hearty lunch, good company and refreshments; and best of all, friendly company, games and music🎵. The event also includes home pickup and flexible rides home as well, and surprisingly, it is free of charge.

Oh it was just my imagination: I was day-dreaming about tomorrow night's performance by George Crooney, I think!

That's right - tomorrow night at the new Plaza on 18th avenue and Cambie, there'll be the next entry into the Cambie Village concert series. Starting at 5pm, local crooner 🎙️Geroge Crooney, following in the slick footsteps of Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra, will be singing some classic songs of yesteryear.

Schools out!

Kids 🧒 are free from the confines of school and set to enjoy their summer break ahead. But if you’re a parent, that may mean your kids have too much free time on their hands now, and are looking for something to do!

Well, if you live in the Cambie Village, you are in luck! There are many summer activities close by for kids to keep active!

The Hillcrest Community Centre is a go-to option for many parents, a hub of interesting things to do. For casual visits, the huge 🏊‍♂️ pool and library📚 are always terrific options, and in the fields around there, their is plenty of space to get active.

For something more structured, Hillcrest Community Centre offer Explorers Camps for children🧒 aged 3 to 12: with half-day and full-day camps, the Explorers get up to crafts, arts, sports and trips to local parks.

For children a bit older (7 to 14) their are also so many interesting ‘camps’ and events, like the Byte🤓 Camp to teach coding skills, architecture camp, ⚽soccer, guitar🎵 and ukulele lessons, dancing and violin🎵 lessons, and many more options! Picture and thanks to !

One of best things about living in the Cambie Village is the food! There's so many tasty options!

A local restaurant just a block away from Astrid Cambie Village is the Chinese noodle house, 🍜 Old Xian's Food.

Freshly made biangbiang noodles🍜 are Old Xian's specialty, but they have so much more, like the east/west fusion Chinese burgers🍔! In addition they are unique in that they also have a store in the restaurant, with drinks, cakes and other tasty treats🍬.

With places like this only a minute away if you lived at Astrid, you probably will be eating out a whole lot more!

For June, July and August, at Cambie Street's W 17th Plaza, an expert gathering of vintners, sommeliers and connoisseurs🍾 gather to explore and celebrate the delicious world of wine🍷! And you're invited!

Whether you are an expert or a dabbler in the tastes of the 🍇grape, come down Wednesdays 5:30 to 7:00, to meet friends, neighbours, and fine samplings of 🍷wine!

If it’s not raining, bottles🍾 will be corked! Hosted by Sean Nelson pictured here, a true expert in the field, learn🍇 and enjoy at the same time! Come early as seats are offered on a first come, first served basis.
