Moving day foot traffic can wreak havoc on floors, trim, and doorways, no matter the season. Here are a few quick steps will keep both your old place and new home spotless:
Protect High-Traffic Walkways: Lay down heavy-duty neoprene runners or sticky plastic surface film through hallways and main entryways. Avoid standard blue tarps or loose blankets on hard surfaces, they slide easily and create a slipping hazard.
Guard Door Frames & Corners: Corner guards or foam pipe insulation wrapped around door jambs will prevent scuffs, gouges, and paint chips as large furniture moves through tight spots.
Set Up Weather Transition Zones: Place heavy-duty rubber mats both inside and outside the main door. Keep a stack of clean towels nearby to wipe down wet or dusty boxes before they enter, and establish a clear "shoes-on" vs. "shoes-off" zone for your moving crew.
Prevent Heavy Furniture Drag Marks: Place felt pads or sliding discs under couches, dressers, and heavy appliances before pushing them across hardwood, laminate, or tile.
