BC Tax Update: How the new PST rules affect Vancouver Property Owners.

The BC Budget 2026 has introduced a 7% PST to professional services effective October 1st, including on "non-residential" property management fees:

Current version of tax:
- Residential Properties: Fees remain PST-exempt.
- Commercial Properties: 7% PST applies starting Oct 1, 2026.
- Mixed-Use: Tax to be applied proportionately.

Don't Forget: BC Speculation and Vacancy Tax Filing Deadline is coming up.

BC residential property owners should be receiving their BC Speculation and Vacancy Tax codes in the mail this month, for 2025 tax year declaration filing by March 31, 2026.

Please note that tax rates for vacant properties will be increasing for the 2026 tax year--from 2% to 3% for Canadian non-residents, and from 0.5% to 1% for Canadian residents.
