Home prices have softened slightly this year—down about two per cent since January and about one per cent in August alone—as sellers adjust their expectations. With buyers and sellers now more in sync, sales activity has started to pick up. New listings are still tracking close to the ten-year seasonal average, but with demand on the rise, available inventory may start to shrink. For buyers, this means the current window of opportunity could begin closing sooner than expected if these trends continue.
