The Commercial Drive area of Vancouver is a vibrant, dynamic community. Originally called Park Drive, Commercial Drive was promoted as a prestigious area with great access to both Vancouver and New Westminster largely due to the interurban railroad, the availability of land, and (of course) the fantastic views. Many huge homes were built in the area of Grandview north of 1st Avenue for some of Van
couver's wealthiest families. South of 1st Avenue was built up by 'chain gangs' in the 1890's to accommodate the City's growth, and the areas east of Victoria Drive slowly developed with an influx of Chinese and Italian immigration after the 1st World War. Now there are a lot of young professionals and families moving into Grandview Woodlands, attracted to the proximity to downtown, the charming homes and the community feel of the neighbourhood. As a result the businesses and services on 'the Drive' are reflecting this shift, with children's boutiques and restaurants cropping up amongst the organic and produce food stores and alongside some of the older businesses such as the hardware store. Commercial Drive remains one of the best places in the City to get a good cup of coffee. As a Real Estate Agent, one of my specialities is helping clients buy and sell homes in this fantastic community. Having lived and worked in Grandview Woodlands for most of my life, I have a very strong knowledge of the area; of the homes, schools and services that can be found here. I am a member of the Commercial Drive BIA, past Vice-Chair of the Grandview Woodlands Community Policing Center, and I now sit as a Director of the Grandview Woodlands Area Council. I am also an active supporter of the Vancouver Cultural Centre, and volunteer at many local events. Call me at 604.626.9734 to discuss your property needs in the Grandview area.
