👚 ✨ While most people wouldn’t call the laundry room their favorite, it can still be a nice place to spend time doing laundry if you use the tips outlined above.

1. Invest In New Appliances
Not only will new appliances encourage you to use them, but they will also lower your energy bills and make your laundry room look great.

2.Install Cabinets And Shelves
Cabinets or shelving above the washer and dryer give you plenty of space for things like laundry detergent, fabric softener and the like, while a bar hung conveniently nearby gives you plenty of space to hang clothing to dry.

3.Use All The Space You Have
Purchase over-the-door hooks and storage systems to help you keep those things you need handy and organized so your room doesn’t feel cluttered and chaotic.

4.Create A Sorting System
Assign each family member their own basket or laundry bag and encourage them to use it throughout the week.

5.The Magic Of Good Lighting
Installing a lovely light fixture that allows light to bathe the entire room will not only make the space more functional, but it will also make it more inviting.

6.Choose The Right Flooring
Choose something that’s low maintenance, easy to clean, and as water resistant as possible, which will add functionality and beauty to the room.

7.Have A Folding Table
Whether it’s a permanent shelf installed along the wall or a rolling cart/table you bring out when it’s time to fold the clothes.

🍽️ If you’re planning a kitchen remodel, don’t forget the dishwasher.

👇 Here are several clever ways to hide this kitchen appliance so it matches the décor.

1. A fake marble or granite top
You can help your dishwasher blend in seamlessly by replacing its cutting board top with a granite or marble one to match your countertops.

2. Cover it in contact paper
If your other appliances are stainless steel, but your dishwasher isn’t, you can make it appear as if it is by applying a sheet of matching contact paper.

3. Cover it with a cabinet panel
If you’d rather not be able to see your dishwasher at all, camouflage it behind a matching cabinet panel.

4. Install the dishwasher strategically
If you have an island in your kitchen, it is the ideal place to house a dishwasher.

5. Paint it
You can pick up appliance paint fairly cheaply at the hardware store.

📺 Thinking about getting a new TV for your living room?

👉 Here are a few decorating aspects to consider when the TV is the focal point of any room.

1. The Size
Your new TV will likely be larger than the current one. You’ll need to make accommodations for the new TV.

2. Frequency Of Use
If you use it on a daily basis, you’ll want to display it in a way that makes it easy and convenient to use. If you only turn it on once in a while, you may want to choose options that minimize or hide its appearance.

3. Its Location In The Room
Be sure your new TV’s placement is within a comfortable line of sight for most seating options in the room.

4. The Lighting
Certain lighting can glare on larger TV screens, so it’s a good idea to have multiple lighting sources that are adjustable.

5. Cables And Cords
Unsightly cables and electrical cords can ruin the look of any room. You could choose one of the many cord management systems available for purchase rather than opting for twist ties or cable ties, which can be unsightly.

🌊 Basement flooding is a common home disaster. If it’s ever happened to you, you know just how exhausting and frustrating it can be.

👇 Below, we discuss several things you can do to help prevent basement flooding.

1. Clean and maintain the gutters
Keeping your home’s gutters in tip-top shape is a must.

2. Pay attention to landscaping
As silly as it sounds, the landscaping around your property could be contributing to your basement flooding risk.

3. Maintain the foundation
Cracks and other weaknesses in your home’s foundation can allow water inside.

4. Maintain your sump pump
If your home has a sump pump, you’re already one step ahead in keeping your basement dry.

5. Install window well covers
Window well covers do a great job of waterproofing your basement.

🌳 Disposing of leftover paint incorrectly can be dangerous to humans and the environment

😉 You actually have several options for getting rid of your excess paint, so keep reading to find the one that works best for you.

-Save It For Later

If you end up with a good deal of paint left after finishing your project, you might want to save it for later use. You never know when one of your precious angels will decide to turn a wall into a canvas or when a piece of furniture will need a touch-up.
To save excess paint, always leave it in its original container and label it with the date you opened it and which room it was used.

-Donate It

If you don’t plan to ever use the paint again, but you feel bad just tossing it out, try to find someone who might use it. Another option is to post your paint online to see if anyone in your local area can use it.

-Dry It Out To Throw It Out

You can, in most locations, throw away dried paint with your regular household garbage. It’s always wise to check the laws in your neck of the woods first before throwing out any type of paint.

-Let The Pros Do It If You’re Not Sure

If you just aren’t sure of the proper way to dispose of your leftover paint, you can let the professionals do it for you. Many home improvement stores will take your leftover paint and dispose of it properly.

-Estimate How Much Paint You’ll Need

For future paint projects, you can get an accurate estimate of how much paint you’ll need by heading to just about any brand-name paint website. Many of these sites have paint estimators that let you know how much paint to buy so there is very little left over. By using these estimators, you waste less money and contribute to a healthier environment for all.

✨ Hardwood floors are beautiful, but it can be a challenge keeping them looking that way.

👍 To that end, we’ve put together several hardwood flooring hacks every homeowner should know.

1. Canola Oil And Vinegar
Removing minor scratches is easy with this clever hack. Combine one-part vinegar to two-parts canola oil. Use a soft cloth dipped in the mixture to gently buff minor scratches.

2. Clean With Black Tea
Steep four tea bags in water. Dampen a soft cloth with the tea and wipe your floors clean.

3. Toothpaste
Grab a tube of white toothpaste and a microfiber cloth. Simply buff the marks with the toothpaste and watch them disappear.

4. A Hot Iron
You can remove the dents quickly and easily using a hot iron. Begin by moistening the dent with water. Place a damp cloth over the dent and run the hot iron in circles over the cloth.

5. Magic Erasers
Magic Erasers work great for removing scuff marks from hardwood floors, too. Just dampen with water as you normally would and buff the marks away.

6. Baby Powder
If you’ve got a creaky floorboard. Use a dry paintbrush to work as much powder as possible into the crevice until the noise stops.

7. Baking Soda
Wipe as much of the wetness away as you can and then sprinkle baking soda over the still-damp stain. Leave it to do its job overnight and then clean the mess up in the morning.

🤔 It can be difficult knowing if you’ve chosen a good contractor or not.

🔨 As an investor, you want to spend as little money as possible but still receive quality work.

🔻 The tips below are designed to help you choose the right contractor for the job, so you get the most out of your investment.

Know what you want before beginning your search
Have a general idea of what you want to do before you begin searching for a contractor.

Ask for referrals
Ask family members and close friends for contractor recommendations.

Check out more than one contractor
Even if you really like the first contractor you talk to, get bids from a couple more so you can compare.

Don’t be surprised if your contractor can’t start right away
The best contractors are the busiest, so don’t be surprised if yours can’t begin work right away.

Do a background check
The contractor you choose should be licensed to work in the area in which you live.

Only sign a detailed contract
The contract you sign with your contractor should be highly detailed.

Don’t pay too much upfront
You really shouldn’t pay more than 10 percent upfront to any contractor.

☀️🌙 Do you have a room in your home that feels dark and depressing? Every room in your home is different. While some are bright and cheery because they are filled with natural light, others can seem dark and depressing because they aren’t.

👇 The ideas below will help you add a bright and cheery touch to those dark and depressing rooms!

1. ADD WINDOWS
If you do the window installation yourself, be careful not to cut into a supporting beam.

2. ADD A SKYLIGHT
Whether the room is on an outside wall or not, you can always add a skylight in the ceiling if you have access to the attic.

3. INSTALL GLASS DOORS
In some cases, it’s not possible to add natural lighting, so instead, installing glass doors between the dark room and a well-lit one can allow light to filter into the dark space.

4. INSTALL PROPER LIGHTING
You can add a lamp to a dark corner and it will definitely brighten the corner. However, it won’t do much for the rest of the room.

5. HANG SOMETHING REFLECTIVE
In order for this tactic to work, the mirror must be hung opposite a natural light source so the light shining onto it can be reflected back.
