Sight lines matter.

Some of the most important design moments in a home happen from across the room. The glimpse into a kitchen from the living space, the repetition of materials, the way lighting and furniture quietly guide your eye from one area to the next.

When a home feels cohesive, it’s often because every view has been considered, not just every room.

Sometimes it’s the smallest moments that make a room feel special.

The light hitting the coffee table just right.
The texture of linen in the afternoon sun.
A space settling into itself as the day moves through it.

Good interiors aren’t only designed for how they look, but for how they feel to live in.

An empty kitchen says a lot when the details are doing the work.

At Langley Estate, this space was designed to feel beautiful before a single bowl, branch, or cookbook was brought in. The warmth of the wood, the quiet layering of materials, the lines, the proportions… every element was intended to stand on its own.

Sometimes the most successful spaces are the ones that don’t need styling to feel complete.

The staircases of Kelly Deck Design.
A staircase is often the very first moment a home introduces itself. It sets the tone, creates anticipation, and quietly tells you what the rest of the house will feel like before you’ve even reached the second floor.

Over the years, we’ve approached each one differently. Some dramatic and sculptural, others soft and understated, but always designed to feel connected to the architecture surrounding them.
For us, a staircase should never feel purely functional. It should feel like part of the experience of the home itself.

Seaglass Cottage kitchen, circa 2017.

Proof that a soft palette never really dates. Crisp whites, touches of sea-inspired blue, and natural light coming in from every angle still feel just as fresh today.
We’ve always believed kitchens should feel calm, liveable, and connected to their surroundings rather than trend driven. This one continues to do exactly that years later.

A well-made bed changes the entire feeling of a room.
One thing I always tell clients is that a beautiful bed should feel layered, not stiff. The goal is comfort with intention.
A few things we always consider when styling a bed:

• Start with generous bedding. Undersized duvets instantly feel flat.

• Layer different textures so everything doesn’t blend together visually.

• Euro shams help anchor the bed and create structure behind softer pillows.

• A slight imperfection is a good thing. Beds should feel inviting, not overworked.

• And finally, think about proportion. Sometimes removing one pillow actually makes a bed feel more luxurious.

The best styled beds feel effortless, even though every layer has been considered.

Back to Seaglass Cottage, circa 2017.
Nearly a decade later, this project still feels just as fresh, layered, and liveable as it did the day it was photographed. That’s always the goal for us. Creating homes that aren’t tied to a moment or trend, but spaces that continue to feel beautiful as life moves through them.

Seaglass Cottage continues to hold its own all these years later, and honestly, we might love it even more now.

Rather than leaving this upper stair landing as simply a place to pass through, it became an opportunity to create pause, balance, and atmosphere. The layered frames bring the eye upward, while the central table anchors the space and softens the transition between rooms.

Moments like these are what make a home feel thoughtful from beginning to end. Not just the main rooms, but every in-between space too.

A room should never just look beautiful. It should know how to live.

Every piece here was chosen with purpose in mind.
A chair that turns toward conversation.
Tables that invite coffee cups, books, and feet tucked underneath.

Soft light that changes with the day.
Nothing overly precious, yet everything considered.
The best spaces quietly support the way people actually gather, pause, and unwind.

Summer has officially arrived ☀️

There’s something about the first real stretch of sunshine in Vancouver that makes every outdoor space come alive again. Doors stay open longer, dinners drift outside, and suddenly every terrace, patio, and garden corner becomes the place everyone wants to be.

A few of our favourite outdoor moments lately, designed for slow mornings, long evenings, and soaking up every bit of sun while it lasts.
