It’s been a busy couple of weeks for real estate policy makers - nationally, provincially and locally, here in Vancouver.

Canada removed the GST payable on the construction of rental housing, in an effort to incentivize developers to build in an environment of higher interest rates & borrowing costs.

Provincially, BC released more details surrounding their plan to legalize secondary suites across the province, including offering select homeowners up to $40,000 in forgiveable loans towards the construction of secondary rental suites.

Lastly, Vancouver approved the amalgamation of 9 single-family zones into one inclusive zoning, allowing for multiplexes from 3-8 units per lot.

The Bank of Canada raised their key interest rate on Wednesday, and I was interviewed by CBC Vancouver for their headline story which aired during the 6pm news hour.

Congratulations to B & E for purchasing their dream home in a great family neighborhood! As recent newcomers from Alberta, we went through the process of identifying several communities that would suit their needs - Richmond, Delta, Vancouver East, and Burnaby to name a few - and found the perfect home in mid-construction stage in West Coquitlam.

This was not an easy deal to put together, and required weeks of negotiations, and working with suppliers to ensure customizations met my clients needs perfectly. A big thank you to Aly for working on this one non-stop; happy to finally put this one together with you, and also happy to not be on the phone with you constantly anymore. 😅
