One year in our home. 🏡❤️
When I had my first viewing of the house we now call home, I pictured Rick and I getting married in the backyard, with the people we love gathered around the pool. I could see it so clearly. Which was a crazy thought as I never imagined leaving 17 Marc Court especially since I had called it home for 16 years. Getting remarried and buying a home together was something I hadn’t planned at all but last year I sold my little home and made a big leap to our new one. We knew we were going to have some challenges shortly after we moved in, as the backyard had a major problem. Fixing it meant tearing everything up and facing a very large price tag. There were tears, and there were times I honestly didn’t know whether we’d be able to have our wedding here—or whether the yard would ever come together the way I’d imagined.
Inside, we gutted the kitchen, too. And for several weeks, I cooked for our family in a main floor bedroom on a fold-up table, using a hot plate, air fryer and crock pot. Feeding my family is one of the ways I show love, so that stretch tested me. I’m proud of the meals I managed to make, though I’m still not rushing into another kitchen renovation. 😅
As a REALTOR®, I’ve helped families through moves that come with big life changes. This time, I was the one starting a new chapter: blending a family, making a new house feel like home, and hoping the vision I’d had on that first visit could still happen.
And it did. After everything it took to get there, standing in our backyard in August and marrying Rick, surrounded by the people who mean the most to us, was an incredible moment. We’ve celebrated our first Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter here, too. What a wonderful, wild first year it’s been.
This house still has big projects ahead of it. But it’s already full of big love. ❤️
