Supporting Local Shelter Support Begins with Every Single Move

A house is only truly a home when the people inside it feel completely safe. ❤️

When you buy or sell a home in Wainwright, Edgerton, Irma, Chauvin, Hardisty, Hughenden, or Provost, you aren’t just making a real estate move—you are helping protect vulnerable families right here in our region.

As a proud commission donor to the Royal LePage® Shelter Foundation, a portion of my personal real estate commission from every single transaction goes back into our community. Those funds travel through the Shelter Foundation and deliver crucial support directly to local frontline resources like the Spark Foundation of Lloydminster.

When domestic or intimate partner violence strikes in our area, these funds help provide emergency shelter, critical resources, and a safe path forward.

How Your Next Move Creates Local Impact:

100% Local Connection: The funds we raise come right back home to serve the MD of Wainwright No. 61 and surrounding communities.

Seamless Giving: You don't write an extra check—choosing Royal LePage Wright Choice Realty automatically fuels this mission.

Built on Trust: Whether you are a local neighbor, a past client, or a military family relocating to CFB Wainwright Garrison through BGRS, your trust directly powers this shelter support.

To my past and present clients, friends, family, neighbors, and my 20,000 Royal LePage and RRI referral partners across Canada: thank you. You helped make this recent donation cheque possible.

Torn between a $15,000 cosmetic refresh or a $40,000+ full kitchen overhaul? Here’s what may make the most sense when it comes time to sell in Wainwright.

The kitchen is one of the first rooms buyers notice, but spending more doesn’t automatically mean getting more back when you sell.

If you’re improving your home with resale in mind, the better question is: How much should I invest for my particular home, price range and neighbourhood?

Option A: The Smart Refresh — $8,000–$12,000

Instead of replacing everything, focus on the items buyers immediately see:

Refinish or repaint existing cabinets
Replace dated cabinet hardware
Add a clean, modern backsplash
Update lighting
Refresh paint and finishes
Replace worn or dated fixtures

For many Wainwright-area homes, a well-planned refresh can make the kitchen feel substantially newer without taking on the cost of a complete renovation.

Option B: The Full Remodel — $35,000–$50,000+

A complete renovation may include:

New cabinetry and a redesigned layout
Quartz or stone countertops
New flooring
Updated lighting
New appliances
Plumbing or electrical changes

A full remodel can be absolutely worthwhile when the existing kitchen is functionally outdated, the home supports the investment, or you plan to enjoy the improvements for several years.

But if you’re renovating primarily to sell, the most expensive option isn’t always the smartest option.

Before spending $10,000, $20,000 or $50,000, I’d rather help you determine what buyers in your price range are actually expecting.

So which would you choose?

A — Smart Refresh
or
B — Full Custom Remodel

Let me know in the comments.

If you’re considering selling in Wainwright, Irma, Chauvin, Edgerton or the surrounding area, I’m happy to look at your home and help you decide which improvements are worth considering—and which ones you may be better off leaving alone.
