One year ago today, I had open-heart surgery. The road back hasn’t been easy, learning to move again without pain, building up my strength, and slowly trusting my body to do the things it once did without a second thought. Every small milestone felt huge.
But what I didn’t expect was how much healing my mind would also need. Anxiety, panic, and fear became part of my story, and some days felt impossible to climb out of.
I couldn’t have done it without the incredible people in my life, those who visited, drove me to appointments, and simply showed up with love and encouragement. Your support reminded me every day that I wasn’t alone, and that made all the difference.
Now, I’m so grateful to be able to move my body again and back to my pre-surgery weightlifting numbers… something I didn’t know would happen in just a year. More importantly, I’ve gained a new outlook on life and a deep gratitude for every single day.
