Meet Jess, Co-Founder of Blue Lime
🏡 How It Started
Hi, I’m Jess 👋 I co-founded Blue Lime in July 2019 with my husband Doug. Our goal? Create a job in the Okanagan so Doug could stop traveling for work and be home with our kids every night. We started small—Doug on tools, me doing admin and payroll from the kitchen table—and now here we are, nearly six years later, with a full team and a business we’re proud of. 💙
🌱 Where I Come From
I grew up in a family that ran businesses from the moment I was born. From my parents’ I learned how to treat people, the value of hard work, and to live in the power and freedom of being self-employed. So even though I never planned to run a business, stepping into this role feels like a full circle experience.
🧩 What Lights Me Up
Let’s be honest: property maintenance isn’t my passion. But helping people, solving problems, building a team of cool humans, and figuring out how to make business better? That’s where I thrive. I love systems, I’m embracing a growth mindset more and more, and finding better ways to do things. Running a business feels like one big Lego puzzle— my favourite childhood activity. I still do as an adult.
🧠 What I’m Working On
I’m a real people pleaser learning to set boundaries and say ‘no’ a lot more often and having more true conversations. I’m learning to lean into discomfort, trust myself, and ask for help. Coaching, feedback, and growth mindset are now part of my everyday life—and I’m here for it.
🌴 Outside the Office
Doug, our two kids, family and friends and nature are my greatest joys. Travel, camping, and anything green is my happy place. One day, I see myself half-living in a jungle with macaws and a bird list . 🦜🌿
🎯 Fun Fact
I love LEGO and live off to-do lists. A perfect day involves slow mornings with the family, and exercise, green space, good coffee and food, and crossing things off.
