Six seal points. Every single log.

Most people don't think about what happens between the logs. True North's Thermo-Groove Six Seal System® runs six channels along every log: two angled outer channels with butyl rubber tape and four inner channels with asphalt-impregnated foam gasket tape.

The angled outer channels actually increase the seal from 1/4" to 3/8" without any added cost, and the foam channels are waterproof when compressed. Together they trap dead air pockets between each seal, working the same way thermal-pane windows do: each section of dead air space improves thermal performance.

It's available on 8x12, 10x12, and 12x12 log profiles.

What keeps a log home tight for decades?

True North's patented LogLock® Compression System puts constant pressure on every log wall through a ratcheting spring-loaded thru-bolt assembly. The average home uses around 40 of them, installed at six-foot intervals. The wood settles naturally over time, the system holds. No separation, no gaps, no adjustment required, ever.

This is one of the reasons we build the way we build.

Introducing the Segwun Collection, our second Model Spotlight of the series.

Three models, 1,916 to 2,280 sq ft, 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. What makes the Segwun stand out is the layout: each model is designed around how people actually live in a log home. Open-concept great rooms, thoughtful bedroom separation, second-floor loft spaces and window walls that bring the outside in.

Homeowners consistently describe the same thing when they move in: there is something about living inside log walls that just feels different. Warmer. More like home.

We caught up with the homeowners at the log raising event earlier this spring. They are building a Custom Castlerock out at Long Lake and they said it better than we could.

If you've been thinking about building and aren't sure where to start, this is worth a watch. 👇

More updates on this build coming soon. Stay tuned.

We get these questions at almost every show, so here are the answers.

1. How does electrical work in a log home?
Every log wall comes with pre-drilled vertical chases built right in the factory. The wire runs down the chase, the mortise is cut out, and the box fits in place. Simple and clean.
2. Are log homes actually energy efficient?
Yes, but not for the reason most people expect. Log homes work on thermal mass, not R-value. The solid log wall absorbs heat and releases it slowly, keeping the home cooler in summer and warmer in winter. The thicker the log, the better it performs.
3. What is included in a True North package?
The shell package covers the log wall system, windows and exterior doors, roof system, floor framing, interior partition framing, electrical chases, and shingles. Everything you need to get the structure closed in.
4. Can I customize my floor plan and log size?
Yes on both. Every home is custom milled to your drawings. Log sizes run from 6x12 up to 12x12, and each step up increases your thermal mass by 25 to 30 percent.
5. Do log homes need a lot of maintenance?
Less than you think! True North Log & Timber Homes do settle naturally over time, but the patented systems are designed to move with it. No caulking, no adjustments, nothing to chase down every few years.
