When I walk into a home that’s about to go on the market, one of the first things I look at is how much visual space there is.

It’s easy to think staging is about adding things (accessories, furniture, finishing touches), but sometimes the biggest difference comes from taking things away.

Decluttering and depersonalizing allow buyers to focus on the home itself rather than the life currently being lived in it. Clear surfaces, fewer distractions, and a little breathing room can make a space feel larger, brighter, and easier to imagine as their own.

You don’t necessarily need to spend a lot to make a home feel more market-ready. Sometimes, the best staging move is simply knowing what to take away.
