🎉 **A Special Day at Glen Hill Terrace!** 🎉

Today, we were proud to celebrate the official launch of the Living Classroom at Glen Hill Terrace, in partnership with the Durham Catholic District School Board, as part of Long-Term Care Community Engagement Day.

The Living Classroom brings education directly into the long-term care environment, creating wonderful opportunities for students to learn alongside residents and team members while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

For our residents, it means something equally special — opportunities to connect with students, share their knowledge and life experiences, participate in learning, and build meaningful relationships across generations. 💙

The Living Classroom program is funded by the Government of Ontario and led by the Schlegel-UW Research Institute for Aging (RIA), in partnership with the Ontario Association of Adult and Continuing Education School Board Administrators (CESBA).

We are grateful to everyone who joined us today and to all of the partners who helped bring this exciting initiative to Glen Hill Terrace.

We look forward to watching this partnership grow and seeing the many ways our residents, students, team members and community will learn from one another in the years ahead.

🌽 A Corn Roast, Great Food & Even Better Company! 🌽

Residents of Tekoa Manor and Providence Place came together today for a wonderful summer corn roast — and what a lovely afternoon it was! ☀️🌽

Our wonderful chef, Diana, prepared a delicious summer feast featuring sausages on a bun, hamburgers, fresh corn and a wonderful selection of salads for everyone to enjoy. 🍔🌭🥗

What made the day even more special was seeing our residents and staff working side by side, volunteering to help set up, serve and make sure everyone had a great time. ❤️

Good food has a wonderful way of bringing people together, and today was all about enjoying a summer tradition, sharing conversation and laughter, and spending time with friends and neighbours.

A heartfelt thank you to Diana and to all of our resident and staff volunteers who helped make today's corn roast such a success! 🌽☀️💙

☀️ A Perfect August Afternoon at Glen Hill Terrace! 🌭🌸

Today, the residents of 1 North at Glen Hill Terrace made the most of a beautiful summer day with a wonderful outdoor BBQ in our front garden!

With the sun shining, summer hats on and a delicious BBQ lunch to enjoy, it was the perfect opportunity to spend time outdoors, share some laughs and simply enjoy each other’s company. ❤️

It’s afternoons like these with good food, fresh air, sunshine and friendship that make summer so special at Glen Hill Terrace.

A big thank you to our wonderful team for making today’s BBQ such an enjoyable afternoon for our residents! ☀️🌭🌿

☀️🍋 A Beautiful Day at Glen Hill Terrace! 🍋☀️

This past Thursday, the residents of Glen Hill Terrace enjoyed a beautiful sunny day out in the courtyard, complete with delicious homemade lemon pie! 🥧💛

There were lots of smiles, fabulous conversations, and plenty of laughter as everyone came together to enjoy the sunshine and each other’s company.

It was a truly wonderful day filled with friendship, community, and sweet memories! 🌸😊

☀️ **What a wonderful day for a field trip!** 💙

Today, residents from our Providence Place and Tekoa Manor independent living communities in Whitby enjoyed a special outing to Bowmanville to visit and tour our beautiful new long-term care home, Glen Hill Gardens.

It was a gorgeous, warm and sunny day, making it the perfect opportunity to explore the beautiful new home and gardens while enjoying time together.

There were lots of smiles, great conversations and plenty of excitement as everyone toured Glen Hill Gardens and learned more about this wonderful new addition to the Durham Christian Homes family.

We loved having our Providence Place and Tekoa Manor residents visit and share in this exciting new chapter with us. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such an enjoyable day! ☀️🌿💙

✨ One Week In — and Already Creating Meaningful Moments at Glen Hill Gardens! ✨

It’s hard to believe that one week has already passed since Glen Hill Gardens opened its doors and our residents began making this beautiful new community their home.

Today marked another special first as residents gathered for our very first Mass at Glen Hill Gardens. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout and to have our bright new gathering space filled with residents coming together in faith, fellowship and community.

These are the moments that turn a new building into a home — familiar traditions continuing, new memories being made, and a community beginning its next chapter together. 💛

One week down, and so many wonderful firsts still ahead. We can’t wait to see all that unfolds at Glen Hill Gardens!

Today was a day we will never forget. ❤️
We had the incredible privilege of welcoming our very first residents and their families to Glen Hill Gardens in Bowmanville.

As the doors opened and our residents saw their beautiful new home for the first time, there were smiles, hugs, happy tears, and so much excitement. It was a truly special moment for everyone who has been part of this journey.

Glen Hill Gardens has been thoughtfully designed to provide comfort, dignity, and a true sense of home. Featuring welcoming resident home areas, inviting dining spaces, a dedicated prayer room, a hair salon, family celebration spaces, secure outdoor courtyards, an intergenerational garden, cozy lounges with fireplaces, and engaging activity areas. Every detail has been thoughtfully created to enrich the lives of those who call Glen Hill Gardens home.

Glen Hill Gardens stands on land generously donated by Richard and Lucy Rekker, whose remarkable gift was inspired by a desire to provide a beautiful home for seniors in our community. Their legacy of faith, compassion, and generosity will enrich the lives of generations to come.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this dream a reality, including our government partners, project team, donors, volunteers, staff, and our Durham Christian Homes community. Most importantly, we are honoured to welcome our newest residents and their families. We hope you will create many wonderful memories here for years to come.

The beautiful sounds of the Heart String Quartet from the Durham Youth Orchestra filled our independent living community with music and joy! 🎻🎶

Our residents enjoyed a wonderful performance featuring a mix of current favourites and timeless classics, creating an afternoon filled with smiles, memories, and appreciation for live music.

Thank you to the talented musicians for sharing your time and incredible talent with us. We truly enjoyed every moment! ❤️
